Get a Free Pet Tag
A Supernormal smart QR pet tag is free. The tag itself costs nothing — you pay £2.99 postage in the UK, and that's the whole cost. There's no trial to cancel and no subscription you have to take: the free plan is genuinely free, and it stays that way for as long as you want it.
What "free" actually means here
Plenty of things are advertised as free and turn out not to be, so here is the entire cost in one table.
| What | Cost |
|---|---|
| The tag (normally £19.99) | Free |
| UK postage | £2.99 |
| Free plan — your pet's online profile | £0 per month, indefinitely |
| Optional paid plan — scan alerts and community alerts | From £2.99 per month |
We would rather you saw the £2.99 postage here than discovered it at the checkout. Ireland is the same £2.99, sent by An Post. Elsewhere, postage is charged at cost and varies by country — roughly £2.56 to Germany, £3.00 to the US, £3.03 to New Zealand, £3.15 to Australia and £3.20 to Canada.
What you get without paying anything
- The tag itself, yours to keep.
- Your pet's online profile — their photo, your contact details, vet details and any medical notes you want a finder to see.
- A scannable tag that works with any phone camera. Whoever finds your pet doesn't need an app, an account, or your network — they point a camera at the QR code and see how to reach you.
- Editable details, for life. Change your phone number and the tag is instantly up to date. No re-engraving.
What a paid plan adds
From £2.99 a month, you also get an instant SMS with the location the moment your tag is scanned, plus community alerts to nearby owners, vets and kennels if you mark your pet as lost.
If you never upgrade, the tag keeps working — anyone scanning it still sees your pet's profile and how to contact you. What you won't get is the location alert and the community search.
How to claim yours
- Pick a colour and order. Green, lilac or orange. You pay postage only.
- Scan it when it arrives to set up your pet's profile — it takes a couple of minutes and there's nothing to install.
- Put it on the collar. That's it.
One thing to know if you're in the UK
Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, a dog in a public place must wear a tag showing its owner's name and address. A QR code tag on its own doesn't satisfy that, because the details aren't physically on the tag — this is true of every QR pet tag, not just ours, and it's worth knowing before you retire your existing tag.
Two straightforward options: keep your current engraved tag on the collar alongside the free QR tag, or add engraving to your Supernormal tag for £9 so one tag does both jobs.
Why is it free?
A reasonable question to ask of anything advertised as free. The tag is inexpensive for us to produce, and the free plan covers the essentials. Some owners upgrade for scan alerts and community alerts, and that pays for the rest. There's no commitment attached to the free plan, and no card details are held against a future charge.
Common questions
Is the pet tag really free?
Yes. The tag is free — normally £19.99 — and you pay £2.99 UK postage. No subscription is required to use it.
Do I have to pay for shipping?
Yes, £2.99 within the UK. International postage is charged at cost and varies by destination.
Is there a subscription I have to sign up to?
No. The free plan is free indefinitely and includes your pet's profile. Paid plans start at £2.99 a month and are entirely optional.
Can I get a free tag for a cat?
Yes — the tag works exactly the same way for cats, and the profile is identical. It's a good fit for indoor cats who slip out, since a finder can reach you without having to catch and transport the cat anywhere.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes. Ireland is £2.99, the same as the UK. We also ship to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and much of Europe — postage is calculated at the checkout for your address.
What happens if I never upgrade to a paid plan?
Nothing changes. The tag keeps working and your pet's profile stays live. You simply don't receive the scan location alerts or community alerts.
How many tags can I get?
You can order more than one if you have several pets — each tag gets its own profile.
